Author Guidelines

1. Paper Relevance

Future–RERD is dedicated to publishing original, impactful research in the fields of rural economics and regional development. Submitted manuscripts should address significant policy, economic, social, or environmental challenges, and propose solutions that are evidence-based, scalable, and practically relevant.

Submissions must demonstrate direct relevance to real-world rural and regional development contexts. Papers that present practical policy insights, innovative rural strategies, or empirical data with regional implications are especially encouraged.


2. Scope of Topics

The journal welcomes submissions across a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Rural economic development and poverty alleviation

  • Sustainable agriculture and agri-tech innovation

  • Migration, labor mobility, and demographic shifts

  • Infrastructure and smart rural technologies

  • Rural education, employment, and entrepreneurship

  • Governance and decentralization in regional policy

  • Environmental sustainability and resource management

  • Digital transformation in rural regions

  • Comparative case studies on regional planning and revitalization


3. Criteria for Judging Papers

All manuscripts will be evaluated according to the following core criteria:

  • Originality: The manuscript must offer new perspectives, data, or theoretical contributions to rural or regional development.

  • Significance and Relevance: Research should tackle critical development issues and offer policy-relevant or practically applicable insights.

  • Technical Soundness: Findings must be methodologically robust and analytically sound.

  • Quality of Presentation: Papers should be clearly structured, logically argued, and written in professional academic English. Poorly presented manuscripts may be rejected regardless of content.


4. Expectations for Paper Content

Accepted manuscripts are expected to fulfill the following content expectations:

  • Clear Motivation and Objectives: Clearly state the research problem, its context in rural/regional development, and the goals of the study.

  • Novelty and Contribution: Describe how the work builds upon or advances existing literature and practice.

  • Empirical Rigor and Real-World Relevance: Include relevant data analysis, case studies, or modeling results to substantiate conclusions.

  • Contextual and Comparative Insight: Situate the research within the broader policy or geographic context, and make comparative references where appropriate.


5. Paper Types

Future–RERD accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Theoretical and Methodological Papers: Conceptual frameworks, economic models, or methodological innovations related to rural/regional analysis.

  • Empirical Papers: Quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods studies grounded in solid data and fieldwork.

  • Policy and Practice Reports: Case-based analyses or evaluations of development interventions, programs, or governance models.

  • Comparative Studies: Cross-country or multi-regional analyses that highlight development dynamics and lessons learned.


6. Manuscript Specifications

To maintain consistency and quality, manuscripts must:

  • Follow the Official Template: Use the journal’s standardized format, including: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

  • Abstract and Keywords: Provide an abstract of 150–250 words summarizing purpose, methods, findings, and implications. Include 5 keywords.

  • Length and Format: There is no strict page limit, but manuscripts should be concise, complete, and within academic publishing norms.

  • Figures and Tables: Ensure all visuals are clear, labeled, and referenced. High-resolution images (300 dpi minimum) must be provided.

  • Equations and Notation: When applicable, use standardized notation and sequential numbering.

  • References: Use APA 6th edition citation style. Reference entries must be complete and properly formatted.

  • Supplementary Materials: Clearly indicate any supplemental datasets, maps, or appendices that support the core manuscript.


7. Authorship and Submission Policies

  • Authorship Criteria: All authors listed must meet academic authorship standards and take responsibility for the content.

  • Ethical Compliance: Submissions must comply with the journal’s policies regarding originality, plagiarism, and duplicate submissions. Authors must disclose related or overlapping works.

  • Submission Instructions: Submit manuscripts electronically through the journal’s online portal. Submissions must use the required template and format.
