Author Guidelines

1. Paper Relevance

Future - Journal of Circular Economy and Resource Management (JCERM) publishes high-quality research addressing critical issues in sustainable resource management, circular economy practices, and the effective use of natural resources. The journal seeks innovative strategies, evidence-based insights, and policy frameworks that advance sustainable resource utilization, economic transformation, and environmental preservation.

We encourage submissions that explore both theoretical advancements and practical applications of circular economy principles, emphasizing their global implementation. Research focusing on ASEAN and Western economies, comparative analyses, and empirical studies that highlight novel approaches to achieving sustainability are particularly welcomed.

2. Scope of Topics

The journal welcomes papers across a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Sustainable resource utilization and policy design
  • Circular economy principles and their implementation globally
  • Comparative studies on resource efficiency in ASEAN and Western economies
  • Management strategies for achieving environmental, economic, and social sustainability
  • Comparative analysis of circular economy practices in developed vs. developing nations
  • Innovations in resource recycling technologies
  • Policies fostering sustainable economic transformations in the ASEAN region

3. Criteria for Judging Papers

Manuscripts will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Originality: Presenting novel methodologies, solutions, or frameworks that contribute to the advancement of circular economy practices and resource management.
  • Significance and Relevance: Addressing global challenges in sustainability, resource efficiency, and circular economy principles with clear implications for theory, practice, and policy.
  • Technical Soundness: Demonstrating scientific rigor through evidence-based insights, empirical results, or case studies that validate proposed solutions or approaches.
  • Practical Applicability: Showcasing real-world applications and the scalability of proposed strategies or policies.
  • Quality of Presentation: Submissions must be well-structured, clearly written, and adhere to academic standards in language, formatting, and citation practices.

Manuscripts that fail to meet these standards may require revision or face rejection.

4. Expectations for Paper Content

Manuscripts should meet the following expectations:

  • Clear Motivation and Objectives: Clearly state the problem addressed, its significance, and the manuscript's contribution to circular economy and resource management.
  • Novelty and Superiority: Highlight how the work advances the state of the art, comparing the approach to existing research and showcasing novel contributions.
  • Empirical Evidence and Practical Relevance: Provide robust empirical evidence, case studies, or pilot projects demonstrating the effectiveness, scalability, and impact of the proposed strategies or technologies.
  • Comparative Analysis: Where relevant, include comparative analyses that position the research within the context of existing practices, policies, or economic systems, particularly highlighting differences between developed and developing economies.
  • Interdisciplinary Insights: Integrate perspectives from economics, environmental sciences, and management to present a holistic view of sustainability challenges and solutions.

5. Paper Types

The journal accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Theoretical and Methodological Papers: Proposing new frameworks, models, or methodologies that advance circular economy principles, resource efficiency, or sustainability policies.
  • Empirical Papers: Presenting data-driven research, experiments, or real-world case studies demonstrating the application of circular economy principles in various sectors.
  • Policy and Strategy Papers: Proposing innovative strategies, policies, or regulations aimed at advancing circular economy practices, particularly focusing on sustainable economic transformations in ASEAN and other global regions.
  • Review Papers: Offering comprehensive reviews that summarize current practices, challenges, and future research directions in circular economy and resource management.

6. Manuscript Specifications

Manuscripts must adhere to the following specifications:

  • Length and Format: Manuscripts should be concise yet comprehensive. While there is no strict page limit, submissions must maintain clarity and focus, adhering to the journal's standards.
  • Template Compliance: Use the official JCERM submission template, ensuring sections for title, abstract, keywords, introduction, literature review, methods, results, discussion, conclusion, and references.
  • Abstract and Keywords: Provide an abstract of 150–250 words summarizing the objectives, methods, results, and significance of the research. Include 5 keywords to enhance indexing and discoverability.
  • Figures and Tables: Submit high-quality figures and tables, properly labeled and cited within the text. Figures must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
  • Equations and Notations: Use standard mathematical notation, clearly defining all variables and symbols. Number equations sequentially for easy reference.
  • References: Follow APA 6th Edition citation style, ensuring complete and accurate citations:
    • In-text citation: (Author, Year)
    • Reference list: Author, A. A. (Year). Title of the article. Journal Name, Volume(Issue), pages. https://doi.org/xxxx
      Example:

  • Supplementary Materials: Authors are encouraged to include additional data, multimedia files, or appendices to support the research.
  • Ethical Statements: For research involving human participants or data, provide ethical compliance details, including institutional review board (IRB) approvals where applicable.

7. Authorship and Submission Policies

  • Authorship Criteria: Authors must contribute substantially to the research and accept responsibility for the manuscript’s integrity.
  • Ethical Compliance: Submissions must adhere to the journal’s policies on plagiarism, prior publication, and simultaneous submissions. Authors must disclose any overlapping content and provide details of enhancements made.
